Why do I pay a fee if I pay taxes? 

The basic philosophy of the Kingsbury Park District is to offer diversified leisure services, including recreational programs and facilities, while ensuring that all citizens have an equal opportunity to take advantage of these services. However, since the demand upon the District is greater than the public's ability through tax dollars to support that demand, and since tax revenues are greatly limited for all types of governmental service, it is necessary to charge fees. These fees supplement other sources of revenue used by the District and are means to continue to provide and expand basic services on an equitable basis.The Kingsbury Park District residents, via property taxes, make a significant financial contribution to the operation Park District whether they use it r not. The Non-Resident Fair Share concept is intended to apportion an equalizing fee to non-resident participants so they contribute to the overall financing of the Park District on an equitable basis with residents. Throughout this website, the higher fee is the non-resident fair share fee. A resident is defined as anyone living within the geographical boundaries of the Kingsbury Park District.

How Can I find out if I'm a Park District Resident?

The simplest way to determine your status is to examine your property tax statement. If you pay taxes to the Kingsbury Park District on the property where you live, you are a Park District Resident. The Park District does not include all of Bond County. In Short the Park District encircles an area just slightly larger than the city of Greenville, and includes property surrounding Governor Bond Lake, as well. Insurance? 

The Kingsbury Park District assumes no responsibility for injuries or accidents occurring at programs or activities. It does not carry medical or loss of personal property insurance for program participants. The cost would make program fees prohibitive. Reviewing your own insurance plan to be certain that you and your family have proper coverage is advisable. 

Publishing Errors?

Occasionally, there may be an error in days, times, or fees on this website or on printed material. We thank you for your patience and understanding when these situations arise. 

Equal Access 

No participant shall, on the basis of race, sex, creed, national origin or disability, be denied equal access to programs, activities, services, or benefits, or be limited in the exercise of any right, privilege, advantage, or opportunity. The Kingsbury Park District services, programs and activities are subject to all applicable laws regarding nondiscrimination, including the American with Disabilities Act (ADA). If you or a family member or friend has a disability and are interested in participating in or attending a District program or activity, the District will make reasonable accommodations to facilitate that opportunity.

Code of Conduct

The Kingsbury Park District encourages and promotes the concept of fin for everyone. However, certain rules are necessary to ensure everyone's safety and enjoyment. Participants in all programs and on Park District Grounds are expected to demonstrate age appropriate behavior.

 The Park District basic behavior code insists that participants shall:      

 1. Show respect to each other and Kingsbury Park District staff, including referees, umpires, and coaches.      

 2. Refrain from using foul or abusive language.      

 3. Refrain from causing bodily harm to themselves, other participants, and staff.      

 4. Demonstrate respect to equipment and facilities.      

 5. Refrain from participating in unlawful activities.      

 6. Follow all posted regulations within specified Park Facility.

 A caring and positive approach will be utilized regarding the use of any disciplinary methods. Additional or behavior management plans may be developed on the advice of parents, guardians, Park District Staff, or other professionals. The Kingsbury Park District reserves the right to dismiss a participant if the above noted procedures are not followed. Each situation will be evaluated individually and on it's own merit. 

Vandalism 

Vandalism comes in many forms, from littering during sports events to more severe cases, such as driving across Park Sports Fields. All of these acts cause higher maintenance costs, repair and clean up time in your Parks. In 2012 alone, over $3,000.00 was spent on picking up littler in the parks. We would like to ask all participants to place all their personal trash in designated receptacles or give careless individuals a hand by picking up their trash for them. Should you see significant acts of vandalism call the Greenville Police Department at (618) 664-2131 or the Bond County Sheriff's Department at (618) 664-2151. Scholarships?

Persons interested in financial scholarships should contact the Kingsbury Park District. The Park District offers scholarship only to Park District Residents. We also offer payment plans that can be worked out through the office. All scholarships and payment plans are kept private.
